Will ensure clean drinking water in every household across the country: PM Narendra Modi

NASHIK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Thursday, his government said it would make efforts to ensure that every household in the country has access to safe drinking water, evidently referring to the Jal Jeevan mission.

Since our government came to power, we have taken many steps to ensure that every place is powered by electricity and that toilets are available in many places. However, we must ensure that clean water is available in every household throughout the country. The work has begun, he said, when he spoke here about the completion of the Mahajanadesh Yatra.

Last week, Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the Marathwada region would be free of drought over the next few years.

Marathwada is one of the largest regions in Maharashtra and includes districts such as Aurangabad, Beed, Hingoli, Latur and Nanded. It is also one of the areas most affected by drought.

Fadnavis also said that Rs 4,700 crore was given as emergency aid, while Rs 3,300 crore was paid by the government as harvest insurance after a severe drought hit the state earlier this year.
