Hong Kong has posted the largest number of passengers at the airport that has fallen in a decade
HONG KONG: Hong Kong International Airport reported the largest drop in passenger numbers in more than a decade in November, official data showed Sunday.
The airport has handled more than five million passengers, 16.2% from a year earlier, the Airport Authority Hong Kong said in a statement.
That's the biggest drop since June 2009, when the figure dropped 18.7%, data on the Civil Aviation Department's website showed.
There has been a decline of more than 12% in the last three months, Department of Aviation data shows.
Hong Kong has been plagued by sometimes violent protests since June. Demonstrators stopped operations at the airport for several days in August.
The Airport Authority did not immediately comment.
